Project Scheduler (ESA/ESTEC)

We are looking for Project Schedulers to support different missions (projects) at the European Space Agency (ESA). The projects are at various phases of development including study phase through to implementation phase and ready for close out.
The work is divided into Work Packages with each work package broken down into a number of tasks. The tasks will be performed within the Science Directorate at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
Responsibilities:
Work Package A
- Issue the preliminary study Master Schedule for missions including: collecting requirements, evaluating documentation at the mission level; advise on missing information related to schedule build-up; setting up trend charts and templates, preparing schedule reports; supporting stakeholders regarding planning status; verifying consistency between schedules of different suppliers; developing, integrating and updating the study mission schedule; creating and monthly updates mission trend charts and running schedule update meetings.
- Issue the Mission Baseline Schedule for missions including: monitoring and control the preliminary mission master schedule; determine critical schedule activities; setting up trend charts and templates; preparing reports documenting the analysis and communicate to stakeholders; supporting all project stakeholders on status; verifying consistency between schedules of different suppliers; develop, integrate and update the study mission schedule including defining work activities and milestones, defining durations and assign dependencies, creating calendars and network logic, running risk assessments and allocate margins to enable critical path analsis; creating and updating monthly mission trend charts and running schedule update meetings of the preliminary mission master schedule.
- Contribute to technical Reviews for missions at study level, including: evaluating data packs; running full schedule assessment including schedule build-up (network logic, durations, calendars, constraints, etc), critical and sub-critical path analysis, schedule risks evaluation, trend performance, schedule margins, contingencies and float analysis; raising RIDs and action items etc.
Work Package B
- Set up the mission schedule control environment for missions, including: customising ESA templates and tool entries in lined with mission requirement, set-up trend charts and templates; defining schedule monitoring, control and reporting metrics and templates; and defining cut-off schedule updates and reporting.
- Defining, monitoring and control mission schedule portfolio for missions, including: planning, scheduling, monitoring and controlling all mission schedule portfolio submitted by various stakeholders; aggregating and synthesising schedule inputs from suppliers into a Mission Master Schedule; verifying consistency between the various schedules; monitoring and comparing the aggregated mission master schedule against the Mission Baseline Schedule; creating trend charts; running CPA, evaluating risks and recommending alternatives; performing complex schedule analysis etc.
- Contributing to technical reviews at project level for missions.
- Close-out the mission schedule environment for missions, including: updating all schedule documents to reflect status at launch, assist in archiving the documentation (under the guidance of the configuration management officer); running benchmark analysis on actual versus baseline planning data; and updating with actual the Mission Baseline Schedule.
Work Package C
- Contributing to ESA-wide technical reviews as required.
- Contribute to ESA business process improvements in schedule management and control.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in project scheduling and have expert knowledge in using tools such as MS Project (Professional), MS Office tools, Visio Professional and risk management tools, etc.
- Excellent customer contact skills for engaging with internal ESA and external stakeholders.
- Desirable experience includes working experience in the aeronautical and/or space industries on projects involving multi-disciplinary technical environments with engineers, scientists/researchers, cost controllers, etc.
- A strong command of the English language, both written and spoken is required.
