A new distribution centre will be opened by retail chain Action in Echt-Susteren, Limburg, immediately creating 230 jobs with a projected 600 to become available over a two-year period.

The retail company was originally Dutch-owned, opening its first shop in Enkhuizen in 1993. Now British-owned, the company chose Limburg over other proposed locations in Belgium and Germany.

The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) lobbied for the centre to be established in Limburg on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The Minister of Economic Affairs, Henk Kamp, sees the choice of Limburg as a positive sign for the Dutch economy during difficult times. The decision, he says, "demonstrates that the Netherlands is an attractive country to invest in."
