House prices still on the up in the Netherlands

According to figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and Kadaster, house prices are still on the rise, increasing 7,7 percent in April 2019 compared to the same month a year earlier. Prices also increased by 7,7 percent in March 2019.

Houses in the Netherlands getting more expensive

Compared to March 2019, prices in April for resale properties were 0,4 percent more expensive. This did not deter people from purchasing, however, as 17.303 properties changed hands, over six percent more than in April 2018. During the first four months of 2019, 64.734 properties were sold. This is actually around five percent less than during the same period in the previous year.

Dutch house prices at their highest ever level

In August 2008, house prices for properties on the Dutch housing market reached a peak, before they began to fall again, reaching a historical low point in June 2013. Since then, house prices have been on the up and in May 2018, for the first time, the price index of existing residential properties was higher than the record level of August 2008. In April 2019, the price index was higher than ever before, with prices 36,7 percent higher than they were during the dip of June 2013.
