Jazz by the Sea

As the summer holidays start and the sea beckons, head to Scheveningen beach this August for free Sunday afternoon concerts.

Jazz by the Sea (Jazz aan Zee)

Hosted by Bar De Pier, every Sunday through August there will be live jazz, funk and soul performed from 3pm to 5pm. Enjoy some smooth sounds as you sip your drinks, having spent the morning laying on the beach or, if you're brave enough, swimming in the sea.

Scheveningen Pier

The pier at Scheveningen has been a focus point for day trippers for over 65 years. As well as offering a lovely stroll out over the water, and the opportunity to look back at the striking shoreline of the Netherlands, it's full of things to do! There's a lower level, which is covered in case you're cursed by the Dutch weather, which is full of delicious food and drink offerings, and a host of other activities. The pier also has a kids play area and a Ferris wheel, while those brave of heart can bungee jump off the end or zip-line back to the shore!

Attending Jazz by the Sea concerts

The concerts are all free, and no tickets are required. Scheveningen is easy to reach by tram from The Hague, and the pier is in the centre of the main tourist beach. Public transport is recommended over driving, and The Hague is well connected to other cities in the Netherlands, such as Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam and Delft, by regular trains.
