Each opportunity out there is unique and challenging in its own ways. However, this opportunity especially is unique because you will be taking the ownership of building a R&D Center from scratch; from identifying the location to building a team to setting up strategies. What's even more exciting is the fact that our client is a well-established global player in the processed food industry from Asia. They have recently set up its Sales operations in the Netherlands to aim for even bigger successes and the R&D Center here will play a huge part in it. 

Responsibilities:    

Establishment of R&D Center:
-Lead the establishment and setup of the new R&D center, including facility planning, equipment acquisition, and staffing
-Develop and implement strategic plans for the center's operations and growth

Leadership and Vision:
-Provide visionary leadership to the R&D team, setting clear goals and objectives
-Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the research center

Strategic R&D Management and Alignment with HQ:
-Oversee all research and development activities, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market needs
-Operate the research center in alignment with the strategic directions and objectives set by the headquarters
-Ensure regular and effective communication with HQ to synchronize research activities and share progress

Collaboration and Partnerships:
-Establish and maintain collaborations with academic institutions, industry partners, and other stakeholders
-Represent the R&D center at industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to enhance its reputation and visibility

Budget and Resource Management:
-Develop and manage the R&D center's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources
-Secure funding for research projects through grants, partnerships, and other sources

Regulatory and Compliance Oversight:
-Ensure all research activities comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
-Oversee the implementation of safety protocols and best practices within the research center

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
-Monitor the progress and performance of research projects, providing regular updates to senior management
-Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the R&D center

Requirements: 
 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in research and development within the food industry
  • Bachelor's degree(WO) in food science or related disciplines are a MUST
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in food science or related disciplines are highly preferred
  • Proven experience in managing an R&D team of at least 5 members
  • Strong proficiency in English
  • Extensive knowledge of food components, particularly proteins
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills
