Legal Counsel

An expanding and dynamic organization within the logistics and shipping industry is seeking a Legal Counsel for the European Region. This role supports the Head of Legal for Europe in overseeing contract management, corporate legal matters, and general legal affairs across the region, with a particular focus on the UK and Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee corporate governance and general corporate matters for European subsidiaries, with specific attention to entities in the UK and Ireland. This includes advising on corporate structuring, reviewing legal documents, managing signatures, and maintaining a reliable governance database.
- Conduct detailed contract reviews of terms and conditions, NDAs, and develop intra-group and agency agreements in line with organizational policies, with particular focus on agreements governed by English law.
- Provide legal guidance during negotiations of logistics, intermodal, and stevedoring contracts.
- Advise on general legal issues, particularly those under English law, and assess legal and compliance risks in contracts and other matters.
- Respond to various legal inquiries and propose appropriate, strategic solutions.
- Act as a legal representative, protecting the organization’s interests in disputes involving UK and Irish entities.
- Assist in selecting external counsel, and collaborate on managing disputes in coordination with the Head of Legal and other stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to ethics and compliance guidelines, upholding the company's Code of Ethics in areas such as data protection, conflict of interest, labor law, competition, and confidentiality.
- Serve as GDPR Officer for UK and Ireland.
- Provide legal support to subsidiaries in collaboration with the organization’s head office.
- Participate in risk assessments and assist with regional legal overviews as required.

Requirements:
Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree in Business or Commercial Law.
- Qualified lawyer in England & Wales, with ideally 4-7 years of post-qualification experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate legal matters and contract management.
- Background in the shipping or intermodal transport sectors.
- Prior experience with GDPR compliance.
