Summer makes a comeback: Highs of 25C expected in the Netherlands this week

After last week saw heavy rain and thunderstorms, many people in the Netherlands had already bid farewell to summer. However, from Wednesday an Indian summer is expected to bring a few days of sunshine and temperatures of up to 25 degrees celsius before the autumn season truly begins.

Late summer weather forecast for the Netherlands

The snap of cool autumn weather the Netherlands has been experiencing will be followed by a few days of sunny and warm weather this week. According to Weeronline.nl, temperatures across the country will rise to highs of 25 degrees celsius on Wednesday, September 18, and should stay summery until the end of the week.

Parts of the country could start Wednesday with some fog and mist, but the clouds will soon part to reveal glorious sunshine. Most areas, such as Amsterdam and The Hague, will see temperatures of between 23 and 24 degrees celsius, while more eastern cities such as Eindhoven could even experience highs of 25 degrees.

The summery temperatures and sunshine will be accompanied by clear skies. Continuing into Thursday and Friday, the warm and dry weather means that those working and studying in the Netherlands can have breaks outside to bask in the sunshine.

Weekend of sunshine in the Netherlands followed by typical autumn weather

People in the Netherlands will be able to enjoy visits to parks, lakes and beaches this weekend as the summer weather continues. Maximum temperatures of 24 degrees celsius are expected across the country on Saturday, and up to 23 degrees on Sunday.

All good things must come to an end though as the close of Sunday will see clouds rolling in to bring some rain and thunderstorms. In the week that follows, autumn weather will return, with normal temperatures for this time of year of between 18 to 20 degrees and daily rain showers.
