Sunshine and warm temperatures grace the Netherlands as spring arrives
As the sun comes out of hiding and the colder weather slowly dissipates, it’s safe to say that spring has arrived in the Netherlands. From Wednesday this week, there will be plenty of sunshine and temperatures are expected to reach highs of up to 19 degrees celsius by the weekend.
Cold nights give way to sunny and warm days in the Netherlands
While the nights over the past few days have been quite chilly, leaving light frost and fog in the mornings, the afternoons have been delightful with bright sunshine and clear skies. On Tuesday, temperatures will reach a maximum of 11 degrees celsius for the majority of the country, and up to 13 degrees in the south.
According to Weeronline, Wednesday marks the start of lovely spring weather, with the mercury rising to highs of 15 degrees celsius. The Wadden Islands will see slightly lower temperatures of 10 degrees due to southwesterly winds blowing over the water. There will also be an abundance of sunshine across the Netherlands, so it's a great time to catch some rays and get a vitamin D boost.
Spring weather continues for the rest of the week
As the week progresses, things will continue to warm up. Thursday will be even toastier than Wednesday, with temps of up to 18 degrees for most Dutch cities.
On Friday, there may be a few clouds in the sky and possibly even some Sahara dust could make an appearance, but the sunny weather will not be affected, with temperatures again reaching highs of 18 degrees.
The pattern will continue for the weekend, with no rain predicted and oodles of sunshine. Saturday, in particular, will be the perfect day to be out and about - going to events like the IamExpat Fair, lounging in the sunshine at a park or having a refreshing drink on a terrasje (terrace) at a restaurant - with pleasant temperatures of between 16 and 19 degrees celsius. It will start to cool down a bit from Sunday, with the mercury only going up to highs of between 14 and 16 degrees.
