An early summer? Dutch temperatures to reach 25 degrees this week

Some good news for anyone hoping to soak up some sunshine: the Netherlands is set to enjoy a couple of days of sunny skies and warm temperatures this week, with Monday likely to be the country’s first official summer day of the year!

The Netherlands' first official summer day of 2022

Dutch weather is notoriously unpredictable, and while April and March were both particularly sunny months, so far May has been a bit of a mixed bag. There was a little bit of hope over the weekend, as the sun finally emerged from behind the clouds and brought with it temperatures in the mid-to-high teens. Luckily, forecasts say these sunny spring days will continue this week!

The Netherlands can expect temperatures of between 20 and 25 degrees on Monday afternoon - although towns and cities near the coast should prepare for chilly winds. On Monday evening, scattered clouds will form across the country (allowing for what is set to be a beautiful sunset) but, heading into Tuesday, the sun will return in force and parts of the country can look forward to temperatures of at least 25 degrees.

Temperatures in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht will peak at 22 degrees, but down south in parts of Brabant and Limburg, it could reach as high as 27 degrees. With these gorgeous temperatures on the cards for Monday and Tuesday, meteorologists are saying the Netherlands is likely to see its first official summer day of the year.

Warm and sunny weather set to last all week

As the week progresses, temperatures will drop slightly as the wind picks up and, while you’re still likely to get a glimpse of the sun, the cloud cover will also increase from Wednesday. The outlook isn’t looking too bad, though, with forecasts predicting temperatures ranging from 20 degrees in Groningen to 25 degrees down near Maastricht

There might be a couple of rain showers in the second half of the week, but on the whole, conditions are expected to remain dry. Thursday and Friday will see more double-digit temperatures, and it could reach as high as 20 degrees on Thursday afternoon in some parts of the country and, heading into the weekend, the chance of rain decreases once again as the clouds recede and temperatures once again rise.
