Easter weekend could see some sun (and rain!) across the Netherlands

Though we can never predict with certainty how the weather in the Netherlands is likely to go, the current forecasts for the Easter weekend are not looking too bad - Easter Sunday and Monday could see some sunny spells across the country, while Saturday is expected to be dry but cloudy.

Easter weekend to see mild temperatures

Despite the fluctuations in the sun and rain, the temperature is set to remain fairly stable throughout the Easter weekend. According to the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute (KNMI), on Friday, the country will see some premature April showers and sunny spells interspersed throughout the day, while the mercury will rise to a maximum of 14 degrees celsius.

On Saturday, temperatures will rise up to 15 degrees, and on Easter Sunday temperatures could even go up to between 15 and 18 degrees. On both days the weather is not set to get cooler than seven degrees. On Monday, those enjoying an extra day off work can enjoy temperature highs of 15 degrees and lows of nine.

Sunny spells and rainy showers to characterise Easter 2024

Overall, the long weekend will be a mixture of sharp showers and sunny spells - great for those of us who crave the sunlight, but less good for those looking to make plans outside. The long-term weather forecasts from the KNMI predict that the changeable weather will continue into the week following Easter, with scattered showers and sunshine continuing for the week to come.

Thankfully, the chance of severe weather coming to cast a shadow over the weekend seems unlikely, which is great news for travellers heading to the airport to make the most of the public holidays. Be sure to keep an eye on the most recent weather forecasts for up-to-date information, as the changeable forecast continues to shift.
