Junior Lecturer in Geo-Information Science / Remote Sensing

To support the education of our group Laboratory of Geo-Information Science and Remote Sensing (GRS), part of the Environmental Sciences Group of Wageningen University and Research , we are hiring a Lecturer in Geo-Information Science, covering most aspects of Geodata-acquisition, processing, modelling and analysis.

You will contribute to our bachelor courses and master programs, while also adding to the group’s research excellence. This primarily includes participating in the existing education portfolio, with a focus on our basic and advanced GIS and remote sensing courses but also taking care of thesis supervision and internship supervision. You can also take part in creative and groundbreaking scientific research, and support research in the group.

The selected candidate will have an excellent motivation for academic teaching and is willing to learn the didactical aspects of academic teaching. Willingness to further shape and innovate our teaching program is highly desirable. We offer a stimulating and friendly working environment. Training and coaching is provided to support the candidate’s professional development.

Since some of our courses are offered in Dutch, we are searching for a candidate who has excellent Dutch language skills. If you do not yet have this level, we will of course help you and you can go to our language center Wageningen in'to Language.

You will work at the Laboratory of Geo-Information Science and Remote Sensing, led by prof.dr. Kirsten de Beurs.The mission of our group is to improve spatial competences for a sustainable world through research and education.

Requirements:

You are/ You have:

  • MsC in Geo-information Science, Remote Sensing or a related field;
  • good lecturing and presentation skills;
  • excellent communication skills in English and Dutch;
  • experience with supervising student thesis projects;
  • excellent organisational skills.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3.226 and €5.090 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). Additionally, a contract for 0.8 FTE can be discussed.
