Senior Accountant

Our client is looking for a senior accountant. The senior accountant has a critical role responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role involves overseeing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The senior accountant reports to the group financial controller and works closely with the finance team to support the company’s financial health and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Financial Operations: Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports; ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Month-End Close: Coordinate and manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies; maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts; analyze variances and provide insights for improvement.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions; provide insights on financial performance and trends.
- Support: Provide support to the group financial controller and finance team on various financial projects and initiatives.
Objectives
- Accurate Financial Reporting: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and reports; comply with accounting standards and regulations.
- Efficient Financial Operations: Streamline accounting processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness; manage day-to-day financial operations.
- Timely month-end close: coordinate and manage the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely financial reporting.
- Compliance and Audit: Maintain compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies; support internal and external audits.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance financial operations.
- Financial Analysis and Support: Provide accurate financial analysis to support business decisions and initiatives; assist the finance team with various projects.
Requirements:
Knowledge and experiences
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
- Certifications: CPA or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- High ethical standards and integrity in financial reporting.
Salary Benefits:
- Fulltime position
- Start date as soon as possible
- Salary between 80.000 - 85.000 including 8% holiday money
- Travel costs will be reimbursed above the 10 KM
- Free lunch is provided
- Direct contract with the company
- Hybrid work is possible (3 days @the office and 2 days @home: Thursday and Fridays)
