Amsterdam Public Library (OBA)
The OBA has 26 establishments throughout all of Amsterdam, its main building being the central library. Each location offers an up-to-date collection of books, DVDs and magazines for you to plunge into, as well as about 6.000 events per year. Members of the OBA can also borrow free e-books through their web accounts.
OBA has an extensive international collection of newspapers and magazines, as well as books in various languages. As a member you can take books out, and borrow them for up to three weeks.
The central library
The "Centrale OBA", or central library, is the biggest library in the Netherlands, counting 28.000 square metres. It is located at a few minutes’ walk from Amsterdam Central Station.
It is open every day from 10am to 10pm, barring a few holidays.
Inside, you can find one and a half million books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, games and blu-rays. There are over 1.000 seats and 490 internet computers.
The 7th floor contains a theatre and a restaurant with a terrace that offers a spectacular view of the entire city. Don't miss this chance to have a huge and wonderful collection at your disposal for free!
