About Camera Japan Festival
The Camera Japan Festival is an annual celebration of Japanese culture that takes place in both Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
At its heart, Camera Japan focuses on Japanese cinema from a variety of different genres, including biographical, anime, fiction, romance, yakuza and sci-fi. With more than 30 screenings each year, the Camera Japan Festival is a great introduction to the diversity of the Japanese film industry and offers insight into the cultural trends of contemporary Japan.
Further supplementing the film screenings is a cultural programme that sees performances, lectures, tastings and even a pop-up shop featuring the latest and greatest from Japan!
The 2014 edition will feature screenings of two films that highlight the skill of Japanese actor Kunimura Jun: Lee San-il's Unforgiven and Sono Sion's Why Don't You Play in Hell?. In terms of language, with the exception of a few premiers, the movies are in the original Japanese with English subtitles.
Please note: Ticket competition winners are announced on the closing date. The tickets offered are for a screening of a film of the winners' choosing in either Rotterdam or Amsterdam. Remember to check this page or your IamExpat inbox to see if you've been selected!
