About Movies that Matter
The Movies that Matter Film Festival is annual event that has been taking place in The Hague since 2006. Picking up where the Amnesty International Film Festival left off, Movies that Matter believes that film is a powerful tool to be used against social indifference.
Founded in their philosophy that cinema is both inspiring and revealing, the festival focuses on movies that act as a mouthpiece for victims of injustice.
Along with the film screenings, a variety of debates, discussions, talk shows and Q&A sessions take place to add further context and understanding of these pressing issues from activists, politicians, journalists and representatives of social organisations.
Coinciding with the Nuclear Security Summit, the 2014 theme of the festival is nuclear safety.
