In honour of its efforts to educate its students on being environmentally conscious, The International School of The Hague (ISH) recently received a Green Flag Award from Eco-Schools, an international programme dedicated to helping schools become sustainable.

ISH has put a lot of effort into promoting the theme of sustainability. For example, while putting on a "GreenWeek" various times, they’ve hosted a recycled clothing fashion show, participated in the national Warme Truiendag (Warm Sweater Day), installed 300 square metres of solar panels, instituted a school-wide recycling programme, and incorporated lessons on sustainability into their curriculum.

The ISH is the first school in The Hague to be awarded with a Green Flag for sustainability, though they are just one of the many Dutch schools participating in the Eco-Schools programme.
