Foam Paul Huf Award 2011 winner is announced
French photographer Raphaël Dallaporta is the winner of the Foam Paul Huf Award
"The quality of the candidates was very exciting. Given the great variety of practises in photography, the challenge was to compare very good works that have very different aesthetics," said the jury, who had the hard work to choose from 81 nominees and their portfolios.
Only young photographers under the age of 35 are able to qualify for the award, and the selection procedure is tough. 20 experts in the field of photography are asked to nominate five young talents each, so the winner can be a citizen of any country in the world with any form of photography.
Dallaporta submitted three photo series for the award "Landmines" about things of great beauty, "Domestic Slavery" about illegal immigrants and "Fragile" which shows a story about the organs of dead people. On March 2, the international jury awarded his three photo series and will exhibit Dallaporta's works during autumn in Foam Museum in Amsterdam. He also received a cash prize of 20.000 euros.
