Young Dutch drinkers to be fined

The Dutch Cabinet approved a new bill that aims at reducing the (relatively new) phenomenon of public consumption of alcohol by under-age Dutch drinkers.

A research published last December by the Trimbos Institute, Netherlands Institute of Mental Health and Addiction, and the University of Utrecht reveals that Dutch youngsters are "drinking more, more often, at an ever younger age."

At the moment, the Dutch restriction makes it illegal to sell alcohol (liquor) to children younger that 16 (18).

The amount of the fine is not determined yet.
