As the programme manager, you’ll play a crucial role in the development and success of SEVEN, driving impactful collaborations between researchers of the UvA and public and private sector partners. If you’re passionate about making a difference in the world and have the experience and ambition to lead this initiative, we want to hear from you.
What will you do?
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Act as a strategic connector between SEVEN, research institutes, policymakers, and industry leaders to drive impactful collaborations.
- Identify and seize new opportunities for large-scale partnerships, funding, and innovation projects.
- Translate emerging societal and market trends into actionable research initiatives that address pressing climate challenges.
- Curate and facilitate workshops to bring together thought leaders, scientists, and stakeholders in shaping SEVEN’s research agenda.
- Develop and manage long-term partnerships to maximize SEVEN’s influence and funding opportunities.
- Ensure seamless project execution by coordinating research proposals, monitoring progress, and aligning resources.
- Support the SEVEN chair and steering group members in strategically managing the program.
What do you bring?
We expect you to:
- Have an academic professional and intellectual level in a field relevant to SEVEN, or a strong affinity with it. Ideally with a Master's or PhD, however, if you are in all other respects the perfect candidate, we are open to exceptions.
- Bring knowledge and experience from an academic environment, with a clear understanding of how universities operate, particularly in translating research into societal impact. We’re looking for someone who is curious, creative, and has a natural talent for spotting and pursuing new opportunities.
- Possess a strategic mindset and exceptional problem-solving abilities;
- Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with strong project management skills to drive success;
- Be proactive and hands-on, with a keen sense of ownership to see projects through from start to finish;
- Embrace new challenges with a growth mindset, eager to learn and continuously develop both professionally and personally;
- Communicate fluently in English, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in Dutch preferred.
What do we offer?
The initial appointment is for the period of 1 year. Upon positive evaluation and satisfactory performance, this will be converted into an appointment with a permanent contract. The appointment is for 24-32 hours per week. Your salary as a programme manager, depending on relevant experience, at the start of employment, is €4.537 – €7.056 gross per month based on a full work week of 38 hours (scale 11/12). The UvA offers a competitive salary with 8.3% year-end bonus and 8% vacation allowance and favourable fringe benefits such as a generous number of holidays, sports facilities, a professional and innovative working environment, flexible working hours and room for professional and personal development.
Your will work from the Roeterseiland Campus, incidentally from other UvA locations as well. We have a hybrid work policy where, as far as work allows, you may work from home parttime. Your work may include or shift to other faculties or research groups in the future.
