As businesses increasingly rely on data to drive decision-making, there is a pressing need for innovative thinkers who can navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship in this landscape.
At the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS), the joined data science institute of Tilburg University and Technical University of Eindhoven, we are at the forefront of data-driven entrepreneurship research and education. We invite passionate scholars to join our team, contributing to the development of entrepreneurial strategies, organizational frameworks, and business models that leverage data to address real-world challenges and drive sustainable growth.
About the Position
We are seeking two entrepreneurial scholars with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Entrepreneurial strategy, such as data-driven decision-making in market entry and competitive positioning in digital markets, including optimal distinctiveness.
- Entrepreneurial organization and management, focusing on topics like the role of data in organizational design, leveraging data for resource orchestration, and data-driven scaling and growth.
- Data-driven business models that incorporate data-driven innovation and platform dynamics, particularly in digital and tech-based industries.
Requirements:
- A strong quantitative research background in entrepreneurship, strategy, and/or organization, with a demonstrated focus on data-driven innovation or entrepreneurial ecosystems.
- A strong pipeline or track record of publications in top-tier entrepreneurship or management journals.
- Being passionate about interdisciplinary research that connects data science with entrepreneurship to solve real-world challenges.
- Knowledge of (and application in) machine learning algorithms and causal analysis.
- Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring, with the ability to inspire and guide students in innovative, data-centric entrepreneurship programs.
- Ability to contribute to a vibrant, team-oriented research environment.
- Willingness to establish research links with other research units at JADS, namely Data Analytics and Data Governance, as well as with the core JADS research themes of social and sustainable entrepreneurship, health and well-being, and crime and safety.
Successful candidates will be involved in teaching the “Data-driven Business Creation” course within the Joint Bachelor in Data Science, as well as in the “In Action” courses in the Master’s program in Data Science in Business and Entrepreneurship: “Data Entrepreneurship in Action” and “Data Consultancy in Action.” The typical teaching load at JADS consists of teaching two to three courses per year, depending on co-teaching arrangements, and supervising some Master theses.

- We offer a 1.0 full-time Assistant Professor position. In principle, successful candidates receive first a contract for 12 months (for internal candidates) or 18 months (for external candidates). After 12 months (for external candidates) or 9 months (for internal candidates), an evaluation will be conducted by a committee of peers. Subject to a positive evaluation, available funding, and alignment with the strategic needs at JADS in 2026, the contract will be extended.
- The salary amounts to a minimum of € 4,492.– and a maximum of € 6,986.- gross per month for full-time employment, based on UFO profile of Assistant Professor 1 or 2 and salary scale 11 or 12 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. JADS uses a neutral remuneration system for salary scaling that is based on work experience.
- JADS offers a contract via Tilburg University with excellent employment conditions with attention to flexibility and (personal) development and attractive fringe benefits. You are entitled to a vacation allowance of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% of your gross annual income. If you work 40 hours per week, you will receive 41 paid days of leave per year. Researchers from outside the Netherlands may qualify for a tax-free allowance of 30% of their taxable salary if they meet the relevant conditions. The university applies for this allowance on their behalf. JADS will provide assistance in finding suitable accommodation.We make clear agreements about career paths and offer all kinds of facilities and arrangement to maintain an optimal balance between work and private life.
