Are you an experienced accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of your work and building strong relationships with various stakeholders? We’re looking for a Chief Accountant to take charge of our European financial operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all entities on behalf of a global travel services provider.

What You’ll Do:
As Chief Accountant, you’ll streamline and lead all European accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. You’ll coordinate with third-party providers, local teams and other European entities, and the US headquarters. Responsibilities include managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, budgets, audits, tax returns, and ad hoc analyses. You'll also oversee banking activities, ensure timely payments to suppliers and employees, and prepare monthly invoices for services provided to other entities. You will report directly to an Assistant Director.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • 5-10 years of experience as a Chief Accountant in a subsidiary of a foreign group
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Proficiency in French, Italian, and/or Spanish is a plus
  • Experience with chartered accountants and auditors
  • Strong knowledge of financial management methodologies and international accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS)
  • Proficiency in financial management tools, SAGE accounting software experience a plus
  • Proven people management skills
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information

The way of working:

It is a full-time job of 40 h/w and the office will be in Utrecht. You are expcted to come in to the office at least 4 days a week.
This position involves occasional business travel to France; the first one will be a longer trip to get to know the stakeholders there, and the rest will be shorter.
