Dutch Flamenco Biennial
Dutch Flamenco Biennial returns for a series of live concerts all over the Netherlands, from December 12, 2023 until January 29, 2024. Every second year, the celebration of contemporary flamenco captivates the Netherlands with prolific performances in this spectacular Spanish dance genre.
Flamenco tradition and innovation
Innovative dancers, major flamenco stars and young up-and-coming talents combine old traditions and innovative choreography. In January and February 2021, remote audiences basked in contemporary flamenco dance, wandering into the worlds of jazz, classical, Baroque and Oriental music via online streaming from Bimhuis and Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam. Now, finally, performances can take place in person at theatres and concert halls once again!
Typically, the flamenco performances take place in over 25 different venues across various Dutch cities, including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Arnhem and Tilburg, where flamenco enthusiasts can choose from over 50 performances. This year, there will also be a few special shows in Brussels. There's usually also a fringe programme of masterclasses, workshops, lectures, artist talks, films and documentaries, children's performances and flamenco yoga classes.
