Sunshine and warm temperatures in the Netherlands this weekend

Spring has really struggled to show its face so far this year, but luckily the Dutch weather is about to turn - and right in time for the hemelvaart weekend! The latest forecasts from Weerplaza show that over the coming days, the Netherlands should see temperatures of over 20 degrees.

Nice weather on the cards for Ascension weekend

This week began fairly cold and grey, but from Tuesday onwards things started to change for the better. On today’s public holiday - Ascension Day - the weather isn’t likely to be particularly hot, but it will be sunny.

Thursday, May 18 will see highs ranging from 13 degrees in The Hague to 16 degrees in Maastricht and Eindhoven. If you plan to go outside to make the most of this decent weather on Thursday afternoon, be sure to pack some sunscreen as, with a UV index of six, you’ll burn after just 15 to 30 minutes in the sun.

Most Dutch cities to see temperatures rise above 20 degrees

While Friday marks a return to work for many, it luckily also brings a continuation of the lovely spring weather. Temperatures will rise slightly on May 19, to reach highs of 17 degrees in Amsterdam, 18 degrees in Groningen, Utrecht and Rotterdam, and 19 degrees in Den Bosch

This continues into the weekend, with temperatures of 20 degrees and above expected across multiple Dutch cities on Saturday and Sunday. According to Weerplaza, the warmest weather will be seen in the east and southeastern parts of the country, near the German border, where temperatures will rise above 23 degrees.

The good news is that while the weekend comes will come to an end, the warmer weather will last into next week and even into the Pentecost weekend!
