FlatTire app: mobile bike repair via your smartphone

Broken bikes aren't meant to be moved around. So what can you do? There's the hassle of searching for a nearby bike shop that’s open, not knowing if it will be fixed in time, how much it will cost and whether it will get fixed properly.

About FlatTire

The FlatTire app allows users to access the mobile bike services of Amsterdam's Flattire.nl more easily than ever before.

All it takes is less than a minute and just a few clicks, and you have make an appointment to get your bike fixed on the spot, wherever you've broken down, whether it’s just a flat tire or something more serious.

FlatTire is free to use and there is no minimum order amount or travel costs (you can use the bike services from Flattire.nl all over Amsterdam and in surrounding neighbourhoods). An Android version of FlatTire will be available soon.

How FlatTire works

If you notice a problem with your bike, just enter your location or let the app retrieve it for you, then select the problem from a list and receive a cost estimation. Also, users can take a photo within the app, quickly showing the Flattire.nl team the problem and bike model.

Lastly, fill in your availability and confirm the request. One of the Flattire.nl crew members will meet you at the specified time and place, and your bike will be ready to go within 15 to 30 minutes. Total effort on your part to get your bike fixed: less than five minutes.

The FlatTire app is the creation of a team of three international graduate students from the University of Amsterdam drawn together by a common passion for bikes.

In 2013, the team started Flattire.nl, a mobile bike shop in Amsterdam, fixing bikes in most student campuses around the city. It quickly expanded from predominantly helping out students to having customers from all walks of life.

The Flattire.nl team offer their services from 8am to 10pm every day of the week. They also offer discounts for multiple repairs within the same appointment, whether it's for the same bike or a friend's.
