AH to team up with Thuisbezorgd and Deliveroo for grocery deliveries
Albert Heijn has announced plans to team up with delivery companies Thuisbezorgd.nl and Deliveroo in order to expand its grocery delivery service, thereby allowing the Dutch supermarket to compete with other so-called flitsbezorgers.
Dutch supermarkets expand home delivery services
Since the outbreak of coronavirus in 2020, the popularity of flitsbezorgers - companies that promise to deliver your groceries within 15 minutes - has increased significantly. There are currently four grocery delivery companies operating in the Netherlands - Gorillas, Flink, Gettir and Zapp - and traditional supermarkets are looking for ways to expand their services in order to compete with the 15-minute delivery service.
At the beginning of this year, Jumbo announced it was joining forces with Gorillas. Now, Albert Heijn has announced a collaboration with Deliveroo and Thuisbezorgd.nl.
Albert Heijn groceries delivered within 30 minutes
Over 1.200 AH products will be available for home delivery, with Thuisbezorgd and Deliveroo committed to delivering the order within 30 minutes. The service will launch in Amsterdam next week before being expanded to cover other Dutch cities and towns.
“We want to make better food available to everyone at all times,” explained Albert Heijn CEO Marit van Egmond. “With Deliveroo and Thuisbezorgd.nl, we are expanding the delivery options so that we can also deliver the groceries to your home within about thirty minutes by bike.”
