10 Dutch restaurants honoured in Michelin 2021 guide
Zeezout in Rotterdam, and Daalder and Wils in Amsterdam were three of the eight restaurants to receive their first star in 2021. Dennis Huwaë, chef and owner of Daalder, was very happy to celebrate the restaurant’s achievement: “I think it's a very nice compliment, I am very happy with it. We always keep pushing for quality and taste.”
Restaurant 212, another Amsterdam-based restaurant, and Brut172 in Reijmerstok in Limburg were both honoured with an extra star on the 2021 list, taking them from one to two-star establishments.
The Netherlands is home to over 100 Michelin star restaurants
The ongoing coronavirus crisis sadly meant that a number of Michelin star establishments across the Netherlands had to shut their doors for good this year. Seven restaurants that had made it onto the 2020 list therefore didn’t make it into the 2021 guide, including De Karpendonkse Hoeve in Eindhoven, and Moshik in Amsterdam, which had two stars.
According to the 2021 Michelin Guide for the Netherlands, there are 93 restaurants with one Michelin star, 18 with two stars, and only two restaurants with three stars - Inter Scaldes in Zeeland and De Librije in Zwolle. The Michelin ceremony took place in Amsterdam at the Nieuwe DeLaMar Theater.
