[Video] NS train splits empty bus in half in dramatic crash

A train travelling on the Roosendaal - Vlissingen route encountered an unexpected obstacle in Bergen op Zoom on Monday morning, where a bus had broken down on the Marconilaan crossing. The impact of the collision split the bus clean in half.

Luckily the bus was empty at the time of the collision, and the driver had vacated the vehicle and had attempted to catch the attention of the train driver in order to warn them. No injuries have been reported among the train’s staff and 85 passengers, and the train experienced only minor damage.

The area was cordoned off by police following the incident, with reports suggesting it was caused by a technical malfunction on the bus. Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) and rail operator ProRail have announced that disruption to public transport services should be expected for several days as a result of damage caused to the track by the crash. No trains will run to or from Zeeland for at least three days while this damage is repaired.
