Schiphol named International Airport of the Year 2012
After being named Europe's Best Airport earlier this year, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol can add another trophy to its mantle: the CAPA Centre for Aviation has just honoured Schiphol with its prestigious "International Airport of the Year 2012" award.
CAPA Centre for Aviation is a global provider of independent market intelligence, analysis, data, and information services for the aviation industry.
According to the press release, CAPA's international panel of judges were impressed by the leadership shown by Schiphol, one of the busiest airports in the world, across a wide range of key airline and passenger related issues.
As the Schiphol Group's Chief Commercial Officer, Maarten de Groof, put it, "This achievement reflects our continuous commitment towards making a difference and raising the standards in the aviation industry worldwide."
CAPA's Aviation Awards for Excellence have been held each year for the last 10 years, but were limited to recipients from the Asia Pacific / Middle East regions until 2011, so Schiphol is the award's first truly global winner.
