Fewer trains to run between Utrecht and Amsterdam from February 14
Due to ongoing construction taking place at Amsterdam Centraal station, there will be fewer trains running between Utrecht and Amsterdam for almost two weeks, starting on February 14. Passengers should expect busier trains, extra stops and longer travel times.
12 days of train disruption for travellers on the Amsterdam - Utrecht route
The new, condensed timetable will be in place from February 14 until February 16 and will allow construction to be completed on Amsterdam Centraal’s platforms. Work is set to be undertaken on platforms 2 to 8 at the capital city’s main station.
Those travelling between Amsterdam and Utrecht will be able to take direct Intercity trains every half an hour or take indirect trains at frequent intervals with a change at Amsterdam Amstel or Amsterdam Zuid via the metro.
NS advises to travel outside of rush hour when possible
NS has advised passengers to travel outside of rush hour when possible, to limit the number of busy trains heading across major routes, or to use the diversions suggested on their website. NS also advises passengers to check the NS app for the latest updates before they embark on their journey.
The construction will also have an impact on trains travelling between The Hague and Amsterdam on February 14 and 15. On the weekends of February 17 and 18, a replacement bus service will also be deployed between Utrecht Central Station and Amsterdam Bijlmer Arena, as there is work taking place on that route.
