Coronavirus press conference: Measures per July 1
At the coronavirus press conference of Wednesday, June 24, Prime Minister Rutte and health minister De Jonge announced that certain coronavirus measures are to be lifted or eased per July 1.
Basic rules
The following basic rules will remain in effect:
- Do you have any symptoms? Stay home and get tested as soon as possible.
- Keep to the 1.5-metre distance rule.
- Wash your hands often.
- Work from home as much as possible.
- Avoid crowded areas and travel outside of rush hour.
Measures indoor activities
Here are the measures concerning indoor activities:
- Keep to the 1.5-metre distance rule.
- No maximum number of people under the following conditions: fixed seats, reservations needed and health check in advance.
- Max of 100 people per space with fixed seats (excluding staff).
- In shops, museums, libraries and other locations where there is a flow of visitors, the 1.5-metre distance is the rule (no max number of people).
Measures outdoor activities
Here are the measures concerning outdoor activities:
- Keep to the 1.5-metre distance rule.
- Max of 250 people (excluding staff).
- Food & drink establishments: No max number of people under the following conditions: fixed seats, reservations needed and health check in advance.
- In zoos, amusement parks, and other outdoor locations where there is a flow of visitors, the 1.5-metre distance is the rule (no max number of people).
Transport
Per July 1, these will be the measures concerning transport:
- Wearing a face mask will remain compulsory when you use public transportation.
- All seats (bus, train, tram, metro) will be available.
- Avoid rush hour if you can.
- Taxis, rented cars etc: Reservations needed, health checks in advance and face mask compulsory.
- Car (and other private transport): You are advised to wear a face mask if you travel with multiple people from different households.
Children and teenagers
- Children up to the age of 12 do not need to adhere to the 1.5-metre distance rule when socialising with each other and adults.
- Children up to the age of 18 do not need to adhere to the 1.5-metre distance rule when socialising with each other. They do need to adhere to this rule when it comes to adults, such as teaching staff at school.
- Educational activities may again take place at higher education institutions. The 1.5-metre distance rule will remain in effect.
Sports
All sports will be allowed again, this includes contact sports, per July 1, recreational as well as professional competitions.
Nursing homes / care facilities
Health minister De Jonge stated that visits to nursing homes should be allowed again if there are no known corona patients at the facility. Residents may also go outside again. However, this must be done in consultation with said nursing homes.
Exceptions
The main rule is to keep 1.5-metre distance, except in the following situations:
- Caretakers and their patients
- People with “contact professions”, such as hairdressers, massage therapists, driving instructors and sex workers.
- Athletes (indoor & outdoor), actors and dancers.
- Night clubs and discotheques will remain closed until September 1.
