International School of The Hague awarded Green Flag for sustainability
In honour of its efforts to educate its students on being environmentally conscious, The International School of The Hague (ISH) recently received a Green Flag Award from Eco-Schools, an international programme dedicated to helping schools become sustainable.
ISH has put a lot of effort into promoting the theme of sustainability. For example, while putting on a "GreenWeek" various times, they’ve hosted a recycled clothing fashion show, participated in the national Warme Truiendag (Warm Sweater Day), installed 300 square metres of solar panels, instituted a school-wide recycling programme, and incorporated lessons on sustainability into their curriculum.
The ISH is the first school in The Hague to be awarded with a Green Flag for sustainability, though they are just one of the many Dutch schools participating in the Eco-Schools programme.
You can find out more about the Dutch branch of the programme on the Dutch Eco-Schools site. You can also follow the Dutch Eco-Schools programme on Twitter.
