ELS is responsible for teaching Presentation & Reflection skills in most BSc programs and in some MSc programs of WUR. As a teacher you will support students in a stimulating way to identify their personal learning goals, guide them in their related development, and assess their progress. Students from all over the world and from different study programs participate in the courses, which requires your competence in dealing with diversity, both culturally as well as disciplinary.

To organize this course well, we are not only looking for a teacher who is excited about teaching presentation skills, but also for an organizational talent. The course is taught in a wide range of curricula and often embedded as a module in a program course. We train and assess students in small groups which means we run many parallel groups to which different teachers and student tutors are assigned. This setup needs high-level organizational skills, pro-active communication skills, flexibility of mind and ability to keep overview.

You are offered the opportunity to teach other skills depending on expertise, ambition and course planning. You will also become an active member of the ELS teacher team by means of contributing to team meetings and the quality improvement of our course portfolio with a focus on Presentation & Reflection skills.

Your duties and responsibilities include:
As a Teacher 4 (0.5 - 0.7 fte) you will be (co)responsible for:

  • teaching Presentation & Reflection skills courses in various BSc and MSc programs at WUR;
  • the coordination of the course (including e.g., contacts with stakeholders from programs/courses in which Presentation & Reflection skills is incorporated; planning groups and staff; preparing course materials for the teachers; communication with students and staff during the course);
  • teaching in other skills courses (to be decided based on available time and interest);
  • ELS team efforts (e.g., sharing expertise; developing new learning activities; active participation in team meetings).

You will work here
You will be based at the Education and Learning Sciences group within the Social Sciences department of Wageningen University and teach throughout the whole university.

Requirements:

  • you aspire to contribute to international students’ academic, personal and professional development especially to developing their presentation and reflection skills;
  • you have an MSc degree and preferably some working experience in education and/or training and affinity with life sciences or an MSc in the life sciences including teaching affinity/experience;
  • your own presentation skills are at such a level that you can be a role model for students;
  • you are an excellent organizer and planner, structured and with an eye for detail, experienced user of Excel, who does not shy away from complex and last-minute changing scheduling issues;
  • you like to work as part of a team as well as working more independently;
  • you have excellent communication skills, both orally and written, and you are fluent in both Dutch and English (C1);
  • you show an open minded, pro-active and flexible attitude;
  • you are available from Mid-August 2025 onwards, preferably willing to be inducted in May/June 2025 to be able to kick-start in the new academic year.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3.378,- and €5.331,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10).
