Are you an expert in the world of hospitality and events? For our client, a globally recognized event association (NPO), we're seeking a dynamic individual to step into the role of Head of Community Engagement and Events. The Head of Community Engagement and Events is responsible for driving strategic planning and execution of events and marketing efforts to enhance community engagement, strengthen relationships, and increase revenue. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role leads a team of 15 people directly and in-directly to deliver outstanding event experiences and impactful marketing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Develop and implement annual plans for events and marketing aligned with organizational objectives.
- Conduct market analysis to shape strategies and improve engagement.
- Monitor industry trends to optimize opportunities for growth.

Operational Oversight:
- Oversee the seamless planning and execution of events, including sourcing, registration, and logistics.
- Resolve operational challenges and support informed decision-making.
- Manage marketing communications and collaborate with external vendors for PR activities.

Financial Management:
- Plan and monitor budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Proactively manage resources to prevent overspending and optimize financial outcomes.

Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure timely follow-ups on commitments and agreements.

Team Leadership:
- Supervise and support team members, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development.
- Lead recruitment, performance reviews, and staff training initiatives.
Key requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in hotel management, hospitality or similar
- At least 5+ years of experience within a broad management function, leading cross-cultural teams and departments
- 10 years of experience in a marketing or commercial function, and strong knowledge of the events industry
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Business fluency in English, both in speaking and in writing
- Ability to work in a hybrid way and commute to the office in Amsterdam (3 days in the office, 2 days from home)
- Occasional business travel for key events/conferences in and outside of Europe (4‐9 events per year)
