You’ll be joining our Lean-Agile Centre of Excellence (LACE) team, working closely with individuals, teams, and management to elevate our Agile way of working. Our organization is structured around Agile Release Trains (ARTs)—focused on different stages of the customer journey—as well as shared service teams. At the company level, we follow the SAFe framework, including Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) to prioritize and manage Epics. At the team level, we apply Scrum or Kanban methodologies. This is a valuable opportunity to bring an external perspective, coach key stakeholders, and implement meaningful improvements in processes, structures, and time-to-market efficiency. Assignment details
- Duration: Approximately one quarter, spread over 3-4 days per week.
- PI Planning Participation: At least one PI Planning event
- Work Mode: Our hybrid work model offers flexibility in when and where you work. Whether you need collaboration, quiet time, or social interaction—online or in person—it's all possible, but some office days per week are required.
- The hourly rate for this position ranges from €31 to €42, depending on experience and qualifications.
Key Deliverables
- Proposals for process and structure improvements in ARTs and Shared Service Teams
- Recommendations to accelerate Epic delivery and improve Time-to-Market KPIs
Your contribution As an Agile Coach, you will be a catalyst for change, bringing fresh insights and coaching the organization to improve its Agile mindset. You will:
- Observe, provide feedback, and facilitate reflection in team conversations and meetings
- Coach key roles (Leadership Team, Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, Product Owners, Lean Portfolio Manager, Epic Owners) to enhance their Agile skills
- Support shared service teams in fully integrating Agile ways of working
- Guide teams to improve performance, for example, by refining Work in Progress (WIP) limits to enable consistent delivery
Who we’re looking for We’re looking forward to meeting forward-thinking, goal-oriented, and collaborative professionals who value diversity. To be effective in this role, you should have:
- A notable ability to coach people and teams in Agile WoW
- Significant experience with SAFe, especially in smaller organizations (Eurail has 220 employees). The interview might include assessments.
- The confidence to question existing methods—willing to interrupt a meeting and provide immediate, constructive feedback
- At least 4 years of experience as an Agile Coach
- Great English communication skills (written and spoken)
- Availability to work on-site in Utrecht some days per week.
