Senior Financial Accountant

For our client in Hoofddorp, we are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant (Compliance) for the Finance Service Centre department. You are supporting the Finance Service Center Team of Europe and reporting to the Finance Manager Europe. In collaboration with their local partners, you are executing accounting, sustainability, and administrative projects and activities for subsidiaries in compliance with local legislations. 
Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and play an active role in several high-impact continuous improvement projects, like completeness of revenue control, accounting system enhancements (Microsoft D365), merge/eliminate legal entities, tax simplification, e-invoicing, and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) compliance
  • Prepare VAT, EC Sales, Intrastat, and Transfer Pricing deliverables in collaboration with our tax advisors and drive simplification
  • Month-end and year-end closure activities
  • Booking of incoming invoices (use of electronic invoice workflow)
  • Prepare outgoing payments and matching payments (use of an electronic matching tool)
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations (blackline)
  • Submission of statistical reporting
  • Coordinate tax and compliance issues with the local partner
  • Perform payroll activities in collaboration with HR and an external payroll partner (small scale)
  • Cash-pooling activities
  • Monitor the filing of financial statements and corporate tax obligations in collaboration with local partners
  • Assist with the annual statutory audits

Requirements:

Required skills:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in business economics/financial accounting, or similar
  • >4 years of experience as a financial accountant, or senior accountant in an international (accounting) firm/company
  • Proven accounting experience
  • Need to have proven experience in a EU based company
  • Languages: English is mandatory, both spoken and written (Dutch is nice to have)
  • Microsoft Excel (Vlookup, Sumif, Pivot, etc.)
  • A good understanding of VAT accounting and return processing
  • Financial accounting (ERP) systems with subledgers (fixed assets, accounts payable and receivable, bank) and online banking

Salary Benefits:

  • Fulltime position (32 hours can be discussed)
  • Working Monday and Tuesday in the office and every second week on Thursday
