We are seeking a skilled Protein Expert to join the protein and plant-based team for an international Specialized nutrition organization in Utrecht. In this role, you will contribute to the research and development efforts related to plant-based proteins. You will delve into the techno-functional behavior of proteins, and explore their behavior during formulation and processing.

Your key responsibilities will be:


  • Leading the experimental design: Designed and executed experiments related to food protein ingredients as well as final product matrices, considering factors such as functionality, stability, molecular properties, and ingredient interactions;

  • Data Interpretation: Analyze experimental data, draw insights, and contribute to scientific reports;

  • Project Management: Oversee the project timeline, ensuring milestones are met;

  • Leading interaction with stakeholders to report results and align on the next steps;

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to two team members;

  • Work closely with the other Protein team members and with other teams in the Advanced Technology group to bring protein expert view and ideation.


  • Salary will be around €4750 - €6300 gross a month based on a full-time position (40 hours a week) and is based on education and experience;

  • Travel expenses will be covered;

  • Pension plan.


Requirements:

* PhD in Protein Science related to plant protein functionality and protein characterization;
* Experience with protein application in beverages;
* 2 years of work experience after PhD graduation;
* Your ability to analyze data, interpret results, and draw meaningful conclusions is essential;
* You can effectively manage projects, meet deadlines, and coordinate tasks;
* You are self-starting and independent with transparent communication;
* Fluent in English.
