Postdoc In service innovation in high-tech equipment

Research / Academic
Eindhoven

Are you eager to contribute to moving forward the semicon industry? Are you interested in service innovation in high-tech equipment and passionate about doing this in collaboration with an industrial partner? Then we are looking for you to support our team as a Postdoc for 2 years in a research project in collaboration with ASML.

Job Description

The semiconductor industry has been suffering from supply chain risks over the last few years. Increasing production capacity takes time due to the high capital investment required as well as the need to train additional workforce. As a result, there is a need to get more out of the existing production capacity, which will also increase environmental performance. Semiconductor production processes are highly integrated and complex. Chip manufacturers will need to adopt strong orchestration platforms to promote horizontal integration across the supply chain.

The concepts of value-based selling and pricing and performance-based contracting are gaining traction. In the semiconductor context, this evolution should lead to a full alignment between service providers' and asset users' long- and short-term business needs including the sustainability of chip manufacturing. How do you manage the transition from being oriented towards outcome-based selling to either cost-plus or value-based selling? In this transition, do you need to account for customer heterogeneity and how?

The aim of this postdoc project is to provide ASML key inputs to move forward in growing services in the service-centric business era and support growth in the semicon industry. By completion of this postdoc project, ASML will have insights into the management of the service transition and understand how to increase customer value.

As a successful applicant, you will (1) manage the project, (2) publish academic articles with your research team, and (3) interact closely with industry leaders. You will apply various research methods to generate valuable insigths into the described topic and guide decision-making.

You will be located in the Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship & Marketing (ITEM) group and will work closely with dr. Néomie Raassens and prof. dr. Geert-Jan van Houtum, and ASML as industry partner. In this setting, you will benefit from the strong industry relationships. These will facilitate interviews and access to stakeholders and data and help ensure the research's practical relevance.
