Postdoc in causal inference
Updated: 01 Mar 2025
The Department of Mathematics of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam welcomes applications for a three-year Postdoctoral position in mathematical statistics, in particular causal inference.
You will research Bayesian causal inference for high-dimensional data, coming up with new methods and deriving theoretical results such as Bernstein-von Mises theorems. The potential outcomes framework and settings in which there is external data to leverage, and/or where there is unmeasured confounding, are of primary interest.
This position is part of the ERC Starting Grant project BayCause. You will join a team of two PhD students and one postdoctoral researcher already working on BayCause. This team is part of a larger research group on causal inference.
Preference will be given to candidates who can connect to existing research strengths in the department. We are an inclusive, interdisciplinary group, and diversity and internationalism is at the heart of our research principles, as well as our teaching practice.
The preferred starting date is 01.09.2025 or sooner. Later starting dates are not possible due to funding regulations.
Applications from all groups currently under-represented in academic posts are especially encouraged. We particularly welcome applications from women and people with an ethnic minority background.
