Thanasis Papakonstantinou - a hero of Greek music
For the first time in a long time, Thanasis Papakonstantinou is preparing to return to Amsterdam. With the addition of new partners and a renewed programme, he goes into battle, note by note, to realise his dreams. This concert is brought to you by the production company Enjoy and Share.
His compositions bring together diverse influences, ranging from free jazz improvisations and post-rock to Greek folk music and popular ballads, the West with the East, a fusion in which traditional Greek and Turkish and Arabic music are mixed with rebetiko.
What comes from the synergy of so many different types of music, which actually come from different musical styles, leads to something completely new, which cannot be covered by existing music terminology.
